Thank you so much for supporting the inaugural (proof of concept) series of my Conduit project. A special thank you to all presale holders, whose patience and early support of this work is massively appreciated. I faced many more hurdles than expected in getting this series done, but we are here, and I have learned a lot as I now look down the barrel of developing Series 1.
As a collector of Series 0, you have supported the work of Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre, who are doing critical work in addressing the problem and assisting victims of domestic abuse and family violence. With each $200 sale of each set; $180 is sent to Safe Steps upon the collector receiving their purchase.
Series 0 ended up being 300 pieces in total (75 sets of 4 objects) so you are among a small amount of people who own pieces from this series. With each purchase of a set, you receive four randomised pieces from the series with a chance of owning some of the rare variations (see the bottom of this page for a breakdown).
Each piece is handmade using a custom material that suspends crushed up reclaim from demolished homes (the red speckle throughout each piece) in colour stained clay. As they are handmade using a volatile material, each piece is different, where details like slightly warped walls, differing thicknesses, glaze ‘crazing’ and fluctuating concentrations of the reclaim material are all embraced. They are not flawless objects and I don’t want them to be.
Each purchase comes with 5 square-shaped Conduit cards, which I would love for you to share around with anyone who might be interested in this project.
If you haven’t already, please sign up to the Conduit mailing list below, where I will be announcing new developments, releases and early-access to future Conduit series’. Underneath that is a video showing some of the processes involved in making these pieces and concluding the page is the official category code list for Series 0.
Again, thank you so much for supporting this project. I’ve got big, long-term plans for this one - Dan.
On the base of each piece are handwritten numbers and letters (for example: 000-000-2022-C). The first 3 numbers are the series number, the second three numbers are the piece number, the third set of numbers is the year of that series, and the letter/s indicate the category of each piece.
