FHR EXTERNAL SCULPTURE COMMISSION
PHASE 1 GLAZE DEVELOPMENT:
Initial testing below documents 10 distinct glaze recipes tested on 3 different clay bodies at a range of firing temperatures accross two firing atmospheres: oxidation and reduction.
Results determined that Keanes SW05 is the preferred clay body due to absorption percentage, durability and interaction with introduced secondary materials (Frankston clay, limestone and ochre).

Further testing narrowed our glaze options to 2 distinct custom recipes as well as firing temperature and atmosphere: cone 10 (1290*C) in a reduction fired atmosphere.
The following images share the most promising results that will move into phase two, which includes refined experiments and testing to stabalise secondary, commission specific materials in the recipe while also testing methods of application and firing cycles to determine best results.
